Hello Franklin Families!

Franklin Elementary School is a building of approximately 370 amazing 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students and approximately 55 dedicated staff members. We work hard to partner with parents and develop outstanding young people who will be successful in the future. At Franklin, we Expect the Best and Achieve Success because that’s the Toreador Way!

Franklin currently has 5 sections of 2nd and 3rd grade students and 6 sections of 4th grade students. Besides working hard on academics in our classrooms, we offer a variety of experiences to help our students become well-rounded young people. This includes fine arts and physical education, technology integration and STEM activities, character education, a Books and Braids club for our young ladies and a SWAG Squad (Students Who Act like Gentlemen) for our young men. It’s important that our students feel connected to the school community and build positive relationships with peers and staff members so they are excited to come to school and learn every day.

Franklin has been a PBIS school for the past several years. Our school expectations are: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Caring. Specific expectations for our students in all common areas of the building are focused around our 4 school-wide expectations. We also recognize the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship through our Franklin Kids of Character program. Students are able to earn weekly, monthly and quarterly rewards for demonstrating these character traits along with modeling our 4 school-wide expectations.

Three years ago, our staff began the journey to becoming a professional learning community or PLC. A PLC focuses on 3 big ideas. The first is a focus on learning which includes high expectations for all students. Second is a culture of collaboration where teachers work together for the success of all students. Third is a results orientation which means using data to improve our practice as teachers and improve learning for all students. At Franklin, we believe all students can learn which will allow them to be successful in school and in life.

We’re proud of the partnerships we’ve developed within the Boone community and we encourage our parents to maintain open lines of communication about what’s going on at school. We’re excited to work with all of our students and are looking forward to a great year!

Go Toreadors!
