WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?

Pre– apprenticeship: Offers a combination of industry-based training and classroom instruction needed to move along a pathway into an apprenticeship program. Boone EDGE’s quality pre-apprenticeship contains five core components as defined in the U.S. Department of Labor framework:

  • a partnership with a registered apprenticeship sponsor

  • an approved training and curriculum

  • hands-on training

  • industry-recognized credentials

  • supportive services

EMT certified, Hannah, is working with the Boone Fire Department after taking the EMT class offered at Boone High School last spring. Hannah has been on multiple calls and is working on learning all things about being an EMT. She hopes to continue working here in the future and loves that she has this opportunity. Great work Hannah!!!

Mary Greeley Medical Center has partnered up with us on a new apprenticeship this year and CNA Gracie is making history in this new role! Gracie is working at Mary Greeley during the week and on the weekends learning all about patient care and she is loving it. It has been an excellent partnership in the healthcare field. Healthcare is a high area of interest for a lot of Boone students and this is sure to be a great partnership for years to come. Thanks Gracie for paving the way!
